Volleyball Scheduled to Play UCSB in Scrimmage, Saturday
Cal Poly head coach Sam Crosson has announced two scrimmages as part of the team’s spring workouts. Cal Poly will host UC Santa Barbara this Saturday, April 6, for a scrimmage starting at 10 am in the Mott Athletics Center and will be open to the public free of charge.

Chris Tamas Joins Volleyball Coaching Staff
Head volleyball coach Sam Crosson has announced the hiring of Chris Tamas as an assistant coach at Cal Poly. Tamas, an assistant with the University of Minnesota the last two years, will join the Mustang staff as the recruiting coordinator and will be involved in all aspects of the program.

Volleyball Signs Middle Blocker and Outside Hitter to NLI’s
Two players have signed national letters of intent to enroll and continue their volleyball careers at Cal Poly. The announcement was made Wednesday by 1st-year Mustang head coach Sam Crosson and Cal Poly director of athletics Don Oberhelman.

Junior Holly Franks recorded a match-high 14 kills, but it would not be enough as the Long Beach State 49ers defeated the Cal Poly volleyball team in three sets to conclude the season. LBSU won by set scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-21.

Holly Franks Tallies 12 kills in Sweep of UC Irvine
Junior Holly Franks recorded a match-high 12 kills in leading the Cal Poly volleyball team to a three set sweep over visiting UC Irvine Friday night at Mott Gym. The win snapped a seven match winless streak for the Mustangs as the team improves to 4-25 overall and 3-14 in Big West matches. UCI falls to 11-21 overall and 5-12 in conference contests.

The Cal Poly volleyball team came back from a two set deficit to force a fifth and deciding set only to fall 15-13 to UC Riverside in a Big West Conference volleyball match on Saturday in Riverside. UCR won by sets scores of 25-17, 25-20, 18-25, 15-25 and 15-13.

The Cal Poly volleyball team lost in five sets to Pacific in a Big West Conference match in Mott Gym on Saturday. Pacific won by set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 13-25,22-25 and 15-7. The Mustangs came back from a two set deficit to push the match to five sets.

The 9th –ranked Hawai’i proved to be too much for the Mustangs as Cal Poly fell in a Big West Conference volleyball match in three sets on Saturday in Honolulu. Hawai’i won by set scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-19.

The Cal Poly volleyball team lost to Cal State Northridge in a Big West Conference volleyball match on Thursday, pushing the Matadors in two of the three sets, by set scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-22. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 3-20 overall and 2-9 in conference matches while CSUN improves to 17-8 overall and 8-5 in BWC contests.

The Cal Poly volleyball team pushed the No. 8 Hawai’i Wahine only to fall 3-1 on Friday in a Big West Conference match in Mott Gym. Set scores went 25-15, 25-17, 17-25 and 25-19. With the win Hawai’i improves to 13-2 and remains unbeaten in conference at 6-0 while the Mustangs fall to 1-15 overall and 0-4 in conference matches.

The Cal Poly volleyball team dropped a heartbreaking five set loss on the road to CSU Bakersfield on Tuesday. The Mustangs had four match points in the fourth set, but could not close out the match and suffered their 13th loss in 14 matches. CSUB improved to 7-7. Set scores went 25-23, 16-25, 22-25, 26-24 and 15-10.

Cal Poly Drops Two in the First Day of Utah Classic
In the second match of the Utah Classic Cal Poly lost for the second time on Friday when the team dropped a four set match to Utah Valley, 3-1, on Friday. Earlier in the day Cal Poly lost in three sets to Utah. Set scores in the loss to Utah Valley went 26-28, 26-24, 25-21 and 30-28. In the loss to Utah earlier in the day set scores went 25-13, 25-23 and 25-21. With the two losses Cal Poly falls to 1-9 on the season and will return to the court on Saturday when they face Nevada at 11 am.

The Cal Poly volleyball team opened the Utah Classic with a three set loss to host Utah on Friday afternoon. Set scores went 25-13, 25-23 and 25-21. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 1-8 on the season while Utah improves to 8-4. Cal Poly will return to the court later on Saturday when they face Utah Saturday.

Sam Crosson Earns First Win as Mustang Head Coach
Cal Poly head coach Sam Crosson earned his first win at Cal Poly with a five set win over Idaho on Thursday in the team’s 2012 home opener while true freshman Maddie Kuber recorded a triple-double to lead the team. Set scores went 25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 16-25 and 15-9. The Mustangs improve to 1-3 on the season while Idaho falls to 2-2.

The Mustangs will host former Big West Conference member Idaho in a non-conference match in the team’s 2012 home opener on Thursday at 5 pm. Cal Poly enters the match 0-3 after facing two of the nations toughest teams at the Texas tournament while Idaho enters 2-1 after hosting its own tournament.

The Cal Poly volleyball team dropped its second match of the 2012 season to the second-ranked Texas Longhorns, 3-0, despite giving the home team all they could handle in the third set. Set scores went 25-17, 25-16 and 25-20. The Mustangs will return to tournament play latter Saturday when they play LSU.

The Cal Poly volleyball team lost its third match at the 26 West Longhorn Classic on Saturday when LSU defeated the Mustangs 3-0. Set scores went 25-19, 25-21 and 25-15. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 0-3 for the season. The tournament hosted by the University of Texas.

First year head coach Sam Crosson has put together a schedule that will include eight NCAA Tournament teams from last season including teams that advanced to the final four and elite eight. The Mustangs will play a total of 30 regular season contest with 10 of the matches at home.

The Cal Poly women’s volleyball program will be participating in the Relay for Life on May 19. This is a 24 hour team walkathon hosted by the American Cancer Society, celebrating survivorship and the raising of money to help the American Cancer Society

Volleyball Announces Camp Schedule
First-year Cal Poly head volleyball coach Sam Crosson announced three camps scheduled for this summer. The first camp is the Cal Poly Youth All-Skills Camp scheduled for June 18-20. The second camp, All-Skills Overnight Camp, scheduled for July 19-22 and the third camp, Cal Poly High School Position Camp, is scheduled for July 23-25. All three camps will be held on the Cal Poly campus.
