Cal Poly Names Sam Crosson as Women’s Volleyball Head Coach
Sam Crosson, an assistant coach at the University of California the past two seasons, has been selected as head coach of the Cal Poly women’s volleyball program. The announcement was made Friday by Cal Poly director of athletics Don Oberhelman.

Keddy Named AVCA Honorable Mention
A week after earning 2011 AVCA All-West Region honors, Cal Poly junior Jennifer Keddy was named 2011 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association today.

Junior Jennifer Keddy continues to earn postseason honors as she was named to the AVCA All-West Region team it was announced today by the AVCA.

Keddy Earns Big West Player of the Year Honors
Junior middle hitter, Jennifer Keddy, has been named the 2011 Big West Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year while sophomore Kristina Graven earned first-team accolades it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Keddy Earns Third Player of the Week Honor
Junior Jennifer Keddy led the Cal Poly Mustangs in kills in both of their matches last week, guiding them to a 1-1 week and earning Big West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week accolades. This is her third honor of the 2011 season and fourth of her career.

Volleyball Falls in Season Finale in Three Sets to Cal State Northridge
Junior Jennifer Keddy tallied 16 kills in Cal Poly volleyball’s loss to Cal State Northridge in three sets on Saturday. Keddy recorded 16 kills on 31 swings with only one hitting error.

Volleyball Controls UCR in Four Sets
The Cal Poly volleyball team defeated the UC Riverside Highlanders in four sets on Friday at the Student Recreation Center on Friday. With the win Cal Poly improves to 7-8 in Big West Conference matches and 12-16 overall. UCR falls to 4-11 in conference matches and 7-22 overall.

UCSB Tops Volleyball in Three
The Cal Poly volleyball team dropped a Big West Conference match in three sets at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday. Set scores in the loss went 25-15, 25-22 and 25-21. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 11-16 overall and 6-8 in Big West matches while UCSB improves to 16-11 and 9-5.

Mustangs to Host UC Riverside for Senior Night
The Mustangs will play their final regular home match of the season when the team faces off against UC Riverside in a Big West Conference match tonight. The Mustangs enter the match with a 10-15 overall record and are 5-7 in conference matches. UC Riverside enters the week with a 6-20 overall record and a 3-9 mark in conference matches and played UC Irvine on Wednesday. Prior to tonight’s match Cal Poly will honor the team’s three seniors: Catie Smith, Sarah Cawrse and Lauren Law.

Volleyball Dominates Highlanders in Three Set Sweep
The Cal Poly volleyball team swept the UC Riverside Highlanders on senior night in a Big West Conference match in front of 778 fans in Mott Gym on Friday. Set scores went 25-10, 25-21 and 25-15. With the win the Mustangs improve to 11-15 and 6-7 in conference matches while UCR falls to 7-21 and 4-10 in Big West matches.

Keddy Sets Career-Highs in Volleyball’s Five-Set Loss to UC Irvine
The Cal Poly volleyball team came back from a 2-1 deficit only to fall in the fifth and deciding set to UC Irvine in a Big West Conference match in Mott Gym on Saturday. Set scores went 27-29, 25-18, 29-27, 21-25 and 15-11.

Volleyball Falls to UC Davis in Five Set Thriller
Juniors Jennifer Keddy recorded 25 kills and Molly Pon tabbed a career-high 20 kills in a five set loss on the road to UC Davis on Saturday night in a Big West Conference match. Set scores went 19-25, 30-28, 25-18, 23-25 and 15-8. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 10-14 and 5-6 in conference play while UC Davis improves to 20-6 and 6-5 in Big West matches.

Volleyball Swept by Pacific in Three Sets
The Cal Poly volleyball team was swept in three sets on the road by the Pacific Tigers Friday night in Stockton. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 10-13 overall and 5-5 in conference play while Pacific improves to 15-8 and 6-4.

Graven Leads Volleyball in Sweep Over Cal State Fullerton
Sophomore Kristina Graven led all players with 14 kills as the Cal Poly volleyball team swept Cal State Fullerton on Saturday in Mott Gym. Set scores went 25-20, 25-22 and 26-24. With the win Cal Poly improves to 10-12 overall and 5-4 in conference matches with the Titans falling to 9-12 overall and 4-5 in Big West contests.

Volleyball Falls in Five to Conference Leading Long Beach State
The Mott magic ran out Friday night as the Cal Poly volleyball team lost in five sets to conference leading Long Beach State in front of 1,317 fans. For the Mustangs it was the team’s first loss at home this season. With the loss Cal Poly falls to 9-12 overall and 4-4 in Big West contest while Long Beach State improves to 13-6 overall and 7-2 in conference matches.

Volleyball to Host Conference Leading Long Beach St. on Friday
The Mustangs will play the third of a four-match Big West Conference homestand tonight when the team will host conference-leading Long Beach State. The Mustangs enter the match with a 9-11 overall record and post a 4-3 mark in conference matches. Long Beach State enters the match 12-6 and 6-2.

The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that Cal Poly junior Jennifer Keddy has been selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Oct. 10 through Oct. 16.

Volleyball Wins Five Set Thriller over UCSB
It took Cal Poly five sets and two players recording double-doubles to defeat conference leading UC Santa Barbara in a Big West Conference match on Wednesday in Mott Gym. Set scores went 25-13, 17-25, 25-16, 29-31 and 15-13 as the Mustangs improve to 8-11 overall and 3-3 in conference play while UCSB falls to 11-8 and 4-2.

Mustangs Host Central Coast Rival UCSB on Wednesday
The Mustangs return home after a single Big West Conference match at UC Irvine this past week. The Mustangs host conference-leading UC Santa Barbara on Wednsday at 7 pm in Mott Gym, which enters the match 11-7 and 4-1 in conference play. Cal Poly enters the match 7-11 overall and 2-3 in Big West play.

The Cal Poly volleyball team was swept in three sets in a Big West Conference match on Friday in Irvine. Set scores went 28-26, 25-22 and 25-21. With the loss Cal Poly falls to 7-11 overall and 2-3 in conference matches while UCI improves to 6-9 and 1-3.

Keddy Records Career High in Sweep over Pacific
Junior All-American Jennifer Keddy recorded a career-high 21 kills in leading the Cal Poly volleyball team to a three-set sweep over Pacific on Saturday in Mott Gym in front of 1,012 fans. Set scores went 25-17, 25-21 and 25-22.

Mustangs Shutdown UC Davis in Three Sets
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Cal Poly volleyball team may have picked up its biggest win of the season when they defeated the UC Davis Aggies in three sets on Friday in Mot Gym in front of 1,2,12 fans. With the win the Mustangs pick up their first Big West Conference win (1-2) and improve to 6-10 overall while UCD falls to 2-1 in conference games and its second loss of the season overall (16-2).

The Cal Poly volleyball team did not have a strong showing in the team’s Big West Conference opener, falling on the road to Cal State Fullerton in three sets. Set scores went 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 5-9 overall and 0-1 in conference play while the Titans improve to 6-7 and 1-0.

Mustangs Pound Roadrunners in Three
After playing their first 12 matches on the road, the Cal Poly volleyball team returned to the friendly confines of Mott Gym and defeated Cal State Bakersfield in three sets in the team’s final tune-up before the Big West season begins. Set scores went 25-11, 25-10 and 25-15.

Road Weary Mustangs Fall to USF in Three
The road weary Mustangs struggled in a three set loss against the University of San Francisco on Wednesday after playing a match in Eugene the night before. Set scores went 25-16, 25-8 and 25-22. The Mustangs, playing their fifth match in six days, fall to 4-8 on the year and will return to the court when they host Cal State Bakersfield in the team’s 2011 home opener on Sunday at 7 pm in Mott Gym.

No. 16 Oregon too Much For Cal Poly
EUGENE, OR – The 16th – ranked Oregon Ducks proved too much for the Mustangs as the host team won in three sets. Set scores went 25-19, 25-22 and 25-17. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 4-7 overall while the Ducks improve to 7-1. Cal Poly returns to the court on Wednesday when the team travels to the University of San Francisco for a match at 6 pm.

Caroline Walters Named Interim Head Volleyball Coach
Caroline Walters has been named interim head coach of Cal Poly’s women’s volleyball team. Walters, who is in her third year as assistant coach, replaces Jon Stevenson, who was relieved of his coaching duties last week. Stevenson had been Cal Poly’s head coach since the 2005 season.

OREM, UT – The 24th –ranked Michigan volleyball team proved to be too much as they swept the Mustangs in a well played match in Cal Poly’s final match at the Utah Valley University Tournament. Set scores went 25-17, 25-18 and 25-21.

Mustangs fall to 3-3 overall with the loss while UVU improves to 3-2. Cal Poly will return to the court latter on Saturday when they take on Michigan.

The Mustangs attempt to come back from a 2-1 deficit for the second straight match fell short as 20th –ranked San Diego prevailed in five sets to defeat the Mustangs in the second day of competition at the Fresno Classic on Saturday. Set scores went 25-22, 17-25, 25-12, 21-25 and 16-14.

The Cal Poly volleyball team has been selected to finish second in the Big West Conference it was announced today by the conference office in the preseason poll and voted on by the conference coaches.
