Doubles Victory Highlights Cal Poly’s Saturday at ITA Northwest Regional

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The freshman doubles tandem of Louise Oxnevad and Sophia Bott advanced to the round of 16 in the Main Draw bracket, leading the Cal Poly women's tennis team's Saturday efforts at the Stanford-hosted ITA Northwest Regional Championships.

Opening play on Saturday morning in doubles, Oxnevad and Bott produced victory for the second time in as many days by delivering an 8-4 triumph against Sacramento State's Chyna Brown and Olivia Boija. Oxnevad and Bott will face the Saint Mary's duo of Danielle Flores and Jade Frampton on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Cal Poly's other doubles team, juniors Ane McPike and Kathryn Webb (right), were eliminated from the Main Draw at the round of 32 hurdle by Washington's Brianna Kemp and Capucine Gregoire, 8-5.

After winning twice in the Main Draw singles bracket during Friday's opening session, both McPike and Bott were eliminated at the round of 32. McPike was swept Stanford's Krista Hardebeck, 6-0, 6-0, while Bott dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision versus the Cardinal's Stacey Tan.

Cal Poly's lone singles victory on Saturday occurred in the Consolation bracket, where Webb rebounded from her doubles loss against Washington's Kemp to score a 6-0, 6-2 triumph. Webb will face Stanford's Lindsey Kostas on Sunday in the round of 64.
