FAIRFAX, Calif. — Desiree Gillaspy claimed a top-20 finish with a final-round 71 as Cal Poly placed in a tie for 12th place following the final round Tuesday of the Meadow Club Women's Collegiate at the Meadow Club.
Gillaspy (pictured at right) carded four birdies, a bogey and a double bogey, finishing one shot shy of her career best and placing in a tie for 13th place with four other golfers in the two-day 36-hole event.
Mustang teammate Caroline Cantlay finished in a tie for 24th place with a 75 for a 148 total, missing a top-20 finish by one stroke.
Sophie Bergland carded a final-round 79 for a 152 total and 41st place while Jamie Harada posted an 80 for a 163 total and 83rd place. Mallory Muehlbauer recorded an 82 for a 169 total and 87th place.
Cal Poly posted a four-person 305 total, one shot higher than on Monday, and finished with a 33-over-par 609 aggregate and tied for 12th with Boston College.
Washington claimed top honors in the 16-team field, following Monday's 283 with a 290 Tuesday for a three-under-par 573 total and a 10-stroke victory over San Francisco. Oregon State was another three shots back in third place.
Cantlay and Gillaspy finished ninth in par-4 scoring at one over par while Gillaspy also was 10th in par-5 scoring at two under par. Cantlay's 28 pars was fourth best in the field of 88 golfers.
Cal Poly returns to action March 26-28 at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i at the Kapalua Resort's Bay Course in Lahaina, Maui.
