March 8, 2014 | Women's Basketball Cal Poly Secures # 2 Seed at BWC Tourney with 79-68 Win over UCSB The Cal Poly women’s basketball team broke open a tight game late in the final period to pull away for a 79-68 Big West Conference win over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday afternoon in both teams regular season finale. With the win the Mustangs secure the No. 2 seed at the Big West Conference Tournament and will not return to the court until the semifinal round on Friday, March 14 at the Honda Center.
March 5, 2014 | Women's Basketball Cal Poly Concludes Regular Season on the Road at UC Santa Barbara The Cal Poly women’s basketball team will travel to Central Coast rival, UC Santa Barbara, for the team’s final regular season game on Saturday at 2 pm. Cal Poly enters the game with a 10-5 Big West record and a 16-12 record overall. UCSB enters the week with a 3-11 conference record and 8-19 overall. February 27, 2014 | Women's Basketball Late UC Davis Push Downs Mustangs, 77-69 UC Davis used a 12-2 run in the final 1:24 of a Big West Conference women’s basketball game to defeat the Mustangs, 77-69, at the Mott Athletics Center on Thursday. The loss drops the Mustangs into second place in the conference standings with a 9-5 record and 15-12 overall. UCD improves to 7-6 in conference games and 12-14 overall.
February 26, 2014 | Women's Basketball Cal Poly to Host UC Davis and UC Irvine in Teams Final Homestand Cal Poly will host UC Davis and UC Irvine in the team’s final homestand of the season. Cal Poly enters Thursday’s game against UC Davis with a 9-4 Big West record and are 15-11 overall. The Mustangs are currently in a tie with Cal State Northridge atop the Big West standings. February 22, 2014 | Women's Basketball Mustangs Snap Streak, Defeat UC Riverside, 83-72 The Cal Poly women’s basketball team defeated UC Riverside, 83-72, to snap a three game winless streak to improve to improve to 15-11overall and 9-4 in Big West play an into a tie for first place tie with Cal State Northridge in the conference standings. UCR fell to 2-11 in Big West play and 6-20 overall.
February 20, 2014 | Women's Basketball Late Free Throws Lift Cal State Fullerton Past Cal Poly, 78-77 A Cal Poly foul with less than a second left in regulation put Cal State Fullerton’s Chante Miles on the line and she responded by hitting all three and leading Cal State Fullerton to a 78-77 win over the Mustangs in a Big West Conference game in Fullerton on Thursday.
February 19, 2014 | Women's Basketball Cal Poly Travels South to Face Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside Cal Poly will head South this week for a pair of conference games when they travel to Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 20) and UC Riverside (Feb. 22). Cal Poly defeated the Zips, 84-74, to improve to 3-4 on the season while Akron fell to 3-3.
November 26, 2013 | Women's Basketball Cal Poly to Host Holiday Beach Classic, No Charge for Admission Cal Poly women’s basketball team will host the Holiday Beach Classic on Nov. 29-30. The four-game tournament will open with the University of San Francisco playing UC Davis at 5 pm. The game will be followed by Cal Poly hosting Akron at 7 pm. Saturday’s action will see UC Davis facing Akron at 5 pm with Cal Poly playing San Francisco at 7 pm. No Admission will be charged for the tournament.

October 4, 2011 | Women's Basketball Mustangs Open 2011-12 Practice The Cal Poly women’s basketball team, the returning regular season Big West Conference Co-Champions, opened practice Tuesday morning in preparation for the 2011-12 season. Returning Big West Conference Coach of the Year, Faith Mimnaugh, welcomes 12 letterwinners, one redshirt transfer, 1 redshirt freshman and four true freshmen. By class it breaks down to four seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and five freshman.
August 22, 2011 | Women's Basketball Women's Hoop Wins Third Game on Trip The Cal Poly women’s basketball team won for the third time on its trip to Costa Rica when they defeated Costa Rican National Team 101-37. Junior Kayla Griffin was named player of the game when she scored nine points with nine rebounds and added six assists and two steals.
August 22, 2011 | Women's Basketball Blog No. 5 from Kristina Santiago Today we started off by enjoying a delicioso breakfast, and then headed down to the local farmers market. Quite different from SLO, this farmer's market was filled with fruits and vegetables we have never seen. In partners, we were given a fruit native to this land that we have never tried. Everyone had to find their given fruit using our magnificent espanol, which for me consisted of a lot of pointing, and buy enough to share with the whole group later at lunch. Carol, our amazing tour guide, took us around and educated us on all the stands and what they were selling.
August 21, 2011 | Women's Basketball Blog No. 4 from Kristina Santiago Today was filled with a lot of traveling, as we had to say goodbye to all our local Tamborian amigos. We stuffed ourselves with the last glorious breakfast, and headed to the ferry on the bus which mobbed through jungle foliage. After waiting a bit to get on the ferry, we were out to sea once again on another 2 hour ride back to San Jose.

We started \out hooping it up on the outdoor courts with the macaws ( loud red parrots) flying over us. After that people ventured off to do different activities such as horse back riding on the beach, miniature golfing, nature walks, and swimming at the pool (which is what I did).

August 17, 2011 | Women's Basketball Mustangs Defeat Univ. of Costa Rica in First Game The Cal Poly women’s basketball team defeated the University of Costa Rica 91-29 in the Mustangs first exhibition game in Costa Rica. The Mustangs were led by redshirt freshman Ariana Elegado’s 12 points. She was named player of the game when she added three rebounds and six assists.

With the loss the team will advance to the WNIT, making the programs first-ever postseason tournament (beyond conference tournaments).
March 11, 2011 | Women's Basketball Clancy Leads Cal Poly to Big West Finals with 70-55 Win Senior Rachel Clancy scored 26 points in leading the Cal Poly women’s basketball team to a 70-55 win over Pacific and earned a trip to the ampm Big West Women’s Basketball Championship game at 1 pm on Saturday at the Honda Center. The Mustangs, the No. 1 seed, improved to 18-11 while Pacific, No. 7 seed concluded the season 9-22.
March 8, 2011 | Women's Basketball Mustangs Advance to Anaheim with 73-70 Win It took four consecutive free throws over the final 19 seconds by the Big West Player of the Year, Rachel Clancy, to put away Cal State Fullerton, 73-70, in the first round of the ampm Big West Women’s Basketball Tournament on Tuesday. With the win the Mustangs improve to 17-11 while the Titans conclude the season 9-21.
March 5, 2011 | Women's Basketball Strong Second Half Downs Mustangs, 78-64 UC Santa Barbara women’s basketball scored 46 second half points and shot 57 percent from the floor in downing the Cal Poly Mustangs 78-64 in a Big West Conference game on Saturday at Mott Gym in front of 2,552 fans. With the win over the Mustangs, UCSB earned a share of the Big West Conference regular season championship with the Mustangs, with both teams finishing the regular season with a 12-4 mark. Overall UCSB improved to 19-10 while Cal Poly dropped to 16-11.
February 26, 2011 | Women's Basketball Mustangs Earn First-Ever Share of BWC Regular Season Title The Cal Poly women’s basketball team’s strong second half lifted the team to a 61-48 win over Long Beach State in a Big West Conference game Saturday afternoon in San Luis Obispo. With the win the Mustangs earned a share of the Big West Conference regular season championship for the first time since the school joined the conference for the 1996-97 season. Cal Poly improved to 12-3 in conference play and 16-10 overall while the 49ers fall to 6-9 in conference play and 8-21 overall.
February 24, 2011 | Women's Basketball Strong Second Half Lifts Mustangs over Titans, 78-58 The Cal Poly women’s basketball team scored 47 second-half points to put away Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference game, 78-58, on Thursday in Mott Gym. Cal Poly held a 31-30 edge at the half. Sophomore Caroline Reeves led the Mustangs with 16 pints hitting seven of 13 shots from the floor while redshirt freshman Jonae Ervin came off the bench to add 13 points hitting six of nine field goals.

January 27, 2011 | Women's Basketball Clancy, Griffin Lead Cal Poly Past UCSB A running jumper by senior Rachel Clancy in the lane put the Mustangs up three with 15 seconds left and the Gaucho attempt to tie rimmed out at the buzzer giving Cal Poly its first win in Santa Barbara since the 2006-07 season. The 54-51 win was the team’s second win in three games over the Gauchos with Cal Poly winning at home last season. With the win Cal Poly remains perfect in Big West play with an 8-0 record and improves to 12-8 overall. UCSB falls to 10-9 overall and 4-3 in conference games.
