This Week: The Mustangs conclude the regular season with a pair of games on the road. Cal Poly enters the week on a roll having won nine-straight and post an 11-3 Big West Conference record and a share of the conference title. Overall the Mustangs are 15-12. UC Davis enters the week 16-10 overall and 8-6 in conference games while Pacific is 15-11 and 8-6 and will host UCSB before taking on the Mustangs. Cal Poly will play at UCD on March 1 and Pacific on March 3.
What's coming up: Following the last two games of the regular season the Mustangs will host the first round of the Big West Conference Basketball Tournament on March 6. Cal Poly will have either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed and will play host to the No. 7 or No. 8 teams... Tip is set for 7 pm on Tuesday.

UC Davis: The Aggies enter the game with the Mustangs with a 16-10 overall record and post an 8-6 conference mark. UCD played a single game last week and defeated Pacific 65-61 after suffering a pair of losses the week before. Samantha Meggison leads the team in scoring with 11.0 points pre game. Hannah Stephens adds 9.7 points with Kasey Riecks scoring 8.6 points. Meggison is also the team's top rebounder with 5.0 boards per game.
History with the Aggies: UCD holds a 21-20 advantage over the Mustangs in the all-time series. Earlier this season the Mustangs defeated UCD, 87-65, when senior Ashlee Burns scored 20 points with Kristina Santiago adding 17 and Kayla Griffin 16. Jonae Ervin dished out 10 assists in the game.

Pacific: The Tigers are currently 15-11 overall and 8-6 in Big West games. Pacific defeated LBSU, 73-68, on Tuesday. Prior to the win, Pacific had lost a pair of games at Cal State Northridge and at home against UC Davis. Kendall Rodriquez leads the team with 12.9 points per game followed by Ashley Wakefield with 12.3 points. Rodriquez leads the team in rebounding with 7.7 boards per game.

A Little About the Mustangs.....: • The Mustangs won their first-ever share of the Big West Conference regular season championship last season with a 12-4 Big West Conference record.
• The Mustangs won 18 games last season, tied for second-best in school history since making the move to Division I in the 1994-95 season. Cal Poly posted a Division I best 21 wins during the 2008-09 season when the team went 21-11. During the 2009-10 season, head coach Faith Mimnaugh's squad recorded 18 wins... Overall in women's basketball history (since 1974-75), the team posted a 21-12 record in the 1981-82 season and 18-11 in 1979-80 when the team was competing at the Division II level.

She Wins Again.....: Senior Kristina Santiago earned her fifth Big West Player of the Week award for leading the women's basketball team to a pair of wins and a share of the Big West Regular Season Championship this past week. The award is the 10th of her career and places her fourth all-time in BWC conference history. In the team's 68-41 win over Long Beach State on Thursday, Santiago went 11-for-16 from the floor scoring 29 points and was one rebound short of a double-double. In the showdown with Cal State Northridge, the forward recorded her 14th double-double in a 70-56 win. Her 16 points and 15 rebounds moved her into 11th place nationally for most double-doubles this season. For the week, Santiago averaged 22.5 points and 12.0 rebounds with a 45.7 field goal percentage.
Santiago POW: Senior Kristina Santiago earned her fourth Big West Player of the Week honor this season and her ninth overall. The Santa Maria native led the team in both points (22) and rebounds (7) in the 76-63 win over UC Irvine last week. In the second contest, Santiago scored 19 points, with 13 of her 19 points coming in the second half to lift the Mustangs over UC Riverside, 69-47. Santiago recorded her 13th double-double going seven-for-eight from the field with 19 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks and one steal. Santiago is ranked nationally in points, rebounds, field-goal percentage and double-doubles. With her performances this week, she also broke into the Big West top 10 for career points with 1,795.

Santiago Earns Third Conference Player of the Week Award: SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal Poly senior Kristina Santiago garnered her third Big West Conference Player of the Week award this season and her eighth career for leading the Mustangs to a pair of conference wins this past week. In the 74-64 win over Pacific, Santiago recorded her 10th double-double of the season when she scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. In the game she scored 19 points and 11 boards in the second half alone. Her 25 points came when she hit eight of 14 shots from the floor and nine of 13 from the line. In the Mustangs' 87-65 win over UC Davis she scored 17 points with six rebounds in 23 minutes of play. Overall in leading the Mustangs into a tie for second place in the Big West Conference with a 5-3 record she shot 64 percent from the floor while averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds per game. This week she is currently ranked fifth in the nation scoring 23.3 points, 23rd in rebounds (10.2) and 10th in field goal percentage (56.1).
Santiago Wins Second Big West Award this Season : Cal Poly women's basketball player, Kristina Santiago, was named the Big West Conference player of the week. For the senior it was her second award this season and the seventh of her career. Santiago opened the week with a 33-point, 11-rebound performance in the Mustangs' 73-72 loss to Loyola Marymount. She also notched four assists, two blocks and one steal to her total. Two days later against the Aztecs, the senior forward drained a career-high 44 points, hitting 16 of 23 from the floor while shooting 11 of 14 from the charity stripe. Her 44 points missed the school record, set in 1982, by just two points. Averaging 38.5 points and 9.5 boards per contest, Santiago led the team in both categories. She also shot .600 from the field and .800 from the free throw line.
Player of the Week.... Make it two in a Row...: The Cal Poly Mustangs made it two for two this week winning their second Big West Conference Play of the Week when senor Kristina Santiago won the honor one week after Jonae Ervin picked up her award. Santiago was selected as the Big West Player of the Week when she established career-highs in points and rebounds this past week. This is the second straight week Cal Poly has claimed the weekly honor with Jonae Ervin picking up the season's first award. In leading the Mustangs to an 82-66 win over San Francisco on Wednesday evening, the Santa Maria, Calif., set a new career-high when she drained 36 points and tied her career-best in rebounds with 15. Santiago shot .519 from the floor, converting 14-of-27, while making 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. Four days later in the team's home opener against the Fresno State Bulldogs, the 6-1 forward shattered her previous rebound mark with an impressive 23 boards to go along with 27 points, securing her second double-double of the week. She added three blocks and four steals to her nightly total. For the Week, Santiago averaged 31.5 points and 19.0 rebounds per contest, while firing .543 from the floor. She also notched 2.5 assists, 3.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game. For the season the senior is averaging 27.2 points, 14.7 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from the floor.
Ervin was selected as the Big West Conference Player of the Week when she scored a career-high 33 points in the Mustangs' season-opener against Oregon. In the Mustangs 102-93 loss to Pac-12's Oregon Ducks, the sophomore point guard shot 10 of 13 (.846) from the floor, including a perfect 5 for 5 from three-point range. She made 6 of 10 from the free throw line for a total of 33 points, to lead all players. Ervin's previous career-high was 19 points at Pacific last season. Hailing from Brea, Calif., she also tied a career-best six rebounds while adding two assists to her total.
Santiago Scores 44 in loss to SDSU: Senior Kristina Santiago scored 44 points, the most since 1982 when Laura Buehning scored 46. The forward was 16 of 23 from the floor and 11 of 14 from the line.... Her all-around game included four steals, two assists and a block.... She also added a team-high eight rebounds in the game...
