Santiago Earns Third Conference Player of the Week Award

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal Poly senior Kristina Santiago garnered her third Big West Conference Player of the Week award this season and her eighth career for leading the Mustangs to a pair of conference wins this past week.

In the 74-64 win over Pacific, Santiago recorded her 10th double-double of the season when she scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. In the game she scored 19 points and 11 boards in the second half alone.

Her 25 points came when she hit eight of 14 shots from the floor and nine of 13 from the line.

In the Mustangs' 87-65 win over UC Davis she scored 17 points with six rebounds in 23 minutes of play.

Overall in leading the Mustangs into a tie for second place in the Big West Conference with a 5-3 record she shot 64 percent from the floor while averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds per game.

This week she is currently ranked fifth in the nation scoring 23.3 points, 23rd in rebounds (10.2) and 10th in field goal percentage (56.1).

The Mustangs return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 4 when the team travels to UC Santa Barbara for a Big West Conference game that will be carried on ESPN 3. Tip for the game is set for 2 pm.
