SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly track & field team will open the indoor season on Friday and Saturday, as the Mustang women's squad will compete at the UW Invitational in Seattle. Events inside Dempsey Indoor will go from 1:30 to about 8 p.m. altogether on Day 1, before the meet resumes from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Day 2.

Three multi-event Mustang student-athletes, senior Jessica Rasmussen, junior Kirby Ruback and sophomore Keana Viss, are scheduled for the pentathlon from 1:30 to 7:45 Friday.

Mustang senior sprinters Jessica Escalante and Liesl Shirhall, along with sophomore Jazmin Moreno, will also compete Friday (in the 200 meters at 5 p.m.), followed by sophomore Allison Scranton making her Cal Poly debut (after transferring from Utah State) in the weight throw at 5:30.

Saturday morning will begin with the 60-meter hurdles at 9:30, featuring freshman Molly Ross, before Escalante, Shirhall and Moreno return for the 60m dash at 10:20. (Both events will open with qualifying rounds leading to prelims before finals later in the afternoon.)

Meanwhile in the field, senior Mishe' Scott will be joined by Rasmussen and freshman Abi Iriafen in the long jump at 10 a.m. on Day 2, ahead of freshman Julie Zweng starting the high jump at 10:30. Iriafen is also entered in the triple jump at 2 p.m.

In the distance events, sophomore Delaney Fitzsimmons will run the mile at 11:55, followed by freshman Ashley Heys in the 3,000 meters at 2:15.

Mustang junior Kiely Osby will also compete in the shot put along with Scranton at 1 p.m. Saturday.
