Cal Poly Announces Recruiting Classes for Cross Country, Track & Field

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly is set to welcome its 2016-17 cross country and track & field recruiting classes for upcoming seasons. Mustang head coach Mark Conover and director of athletics Don Oberhelman announced the newcomers Tuesday.

The individuals committing join early-period National Letter of Intent signees Cate Ratliff (the 2015 CIF individual state cross country champion) and Caice Lanovaz (an IAAF World Youth Championships-qualifying heptathlete and the California record-holder for multi-events scoring in her age group).

In addition to the state cross country champion, the class also includes the second-place CIF finisher in Morgin Coonfield (who was just 3.4 seconds behind Ratliff for the title). Additionally, Chas Cook (in the 1,600 meters), Thomas Heib (800m) and Abi Iriafen (triple jump) are others coming off top-five performances at recent state track & field championship meets, while Ann Caroline Kaseberg (400m), Remington Mahlum (triple jump) and Molly Ross (300m and 100m hurdles) also won section championships this past spring.

The incoming class is listed below with the student-athletes' top respective times and marks, beginning with the runners joining the Mustang cross country team this fall:
