INDIANAPOLIS – Cal Poly senior Rachel O'Brien finished 44th in the prelims of the 100-yard butterfly Friday morning at the NCAA Championships at IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
O'Brien (right) finished with a time of 53.99 seconds, after coming in with a seed time of 53.08.
O'Brien will also compete in the prelims of her premier event, the 200 fly, after 8 a.m. Saturday. Finals will be held after 4 p.m. O'Brien is seeded 29th, at 1:57.27.
The first woman to swim at the NCAA Championships since Cal Poly moved to the Division I level in 1994, O'Brien holds school records in both events.
