Cal Poly Drops Dual to UCSB
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Cal Poly swimming and diving teams closed out their 2011-12 dual meet schedule as they came up short in their dual meet against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday. The men lost with a score of 160-129. On the women's side the final score was 163-124.
Senior Lacey Buck (pictured at right) scored a couple of wins in the Women's 1000 yard freestyle (9:53.59 seed/10:22.84 finals) and the women's 500 yard freestyle (4:50.57 seed/ 5:02.74 finals.)
Sophomore Konrad Antoniuk was the first to touch the wall in the men's 1650 yard freestyle and set a NCAA "B" Standard with his time of 15:23.24. Freshman Christian Renfro finished first in the men 100 yard freestyle with his time 47.62. In the men's 500 yard freestyle, sophomore Adrian Brynnel was the first to finish at 4:34.89.
Cal Poly divers dominated the day with Sami McIntyre and Meaghan O'Meara finishing one and two in the women 1 meter dive. In the 3 meter dive, Sami McIntyre finished first. On the men's side, Elliott Adams won both the 1 and 3 meter dives.
Next up for the Mustangs are their respective conference championships. The women will be up first as they head to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, which runs Feb. 15-18. The men will compete in the Pac-12 Championships the weekend of Feb. 29-Mar. 3.
