Cal PolyWomen Defeat UC San Diego, Mustang Men Fall
LA JOLLA, California – The Cal Poly women defeated the UC San Diego Tritons 185-113 at the Canyonview Aquatic Center on Sunday. The Mustang men fell to the Tritons 214-80. This was the first time the teams have competed since 2007.
Junior Angie Haven also scored a pair of wins in the competition. Haven first win came in the 100 meter breaststroke (1:16.54), her second win was the 200 meter breaststroke (2:42.04).
In the butterfly, freshman Belen Enguidanos (seen at right) touched the wall first in two events. She recorded a time of 2:21.98 in the 200 meter butterfly. In the 100 meter butterfly, her first place finish was 1:06.72. She was followed in by her junior teammate Lacey Buck (2:27.06), and senior teammate Kylie France (2:28.97).
Two mustang sophomores won their events. Jill Jones won the 200 meter freestyle (2:08.04). Rachel Cleak won the 100 meter freestle (59.50). Cleak was followed in by Jill Jones (1:00.02) and sophomore Danielle Wong (1:00.81).
The Cal Poly women also won the 400 meter freestyle relay.
On the men's side, Konrad Antoniuk was the first to touch the wall in the 400 meter medley. His finish time was 4:51.92.
Sophmore Sami McIntyre won two diving events. She garnered 258.60 points in the 1 meter dive and 273.10 points in the 3 meter dive.
Cal Poly Swimming and Diving will be off until the UNLV Diving Invitational on January 13, 2012.
