SDSU Defeats Men’s Tennis, 5-2
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – San Diego State men's tennis team defeated Cal Poly, 5-2, in a non-conference tennis match on Sunday in San Diego. With the loss Cal Poly falls to 0-2 for the dual season while San Diego State improves to 1-0.
But SDSU won the second and third match to earn the doubles point.
In singles play the Mustangs picked up wins on the second and fourth courts. Marco Comuzzo defeated D. Siddiqui on the second court in straight sets, 6-3 and 7-5.
On the fourth court, Jurgen De Jager defeated J. Florez 7-6, 7-6.
Jordan Kepler lost on the sixth court to J. Seirra-Short after winning the first set 7-5. Seirra-Short came back to win the next two, 7-5 and 10-8.
The other matches were decided in two sets with one retirement. J. Pulgar defeated Brian McPhee on the first court, 6-2, 6-2 while A. Khacatryan defeated Sebastian Bell 7-5, 6-1.
Jordan Bridge retired on the third court after dropping the first set 6-3 to T. Bertsch.
Cal Poly will return to action at the ITA Indoor National Championships on Jan. 27 and 28 in Malibu.
