SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Supporters of the Cal Poly men's soccer program now have another avenue in which to follow the Mustangs with the recent launch of the team's official Twitter account. Mustang fans can receive all of Cal Poly's updates and progress @CPMensSoccer.
The Mustangs are expected to return five starters and 13 letterwinners from their 2011 squad that set single-season program records for fewest goals conceded (17, in 18 games) and fewest goals allowed per game (0.94) and led the Big West Conference with a 0.90 team goals against average. Cal Poly also closed the 2011 season ranked No. 8 among NCAA Division I attendance leaders by averaging 2,139 supporters per 11 autumn dates at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
Cal Poly's eight-player National Letter of Intent signing class, rated by TopDrawerSoccer.com as one of the top incoming units among Division I programs, includes forward John Chronopoulos (Santa Cruz, Calif., Santa Cruz HS), midfielders Sean Dhillon (Mission Viejo, Calif., Tesoro HS) and Ruben Duran (Las Vegas, Nev., Eldorado HS), winger Jesse Ham (Englewood, Colo., Denver Christian HS), center back Mamadou Kebe (Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Los Angeles Teacher Preparatory), outside back Kip Colvey (Marlborough, New Zealand, Lincoln HS), defender Kody Wakasa (Hillsborough, Calif., Burlingame HS) and goalkeeper Wade Hamilton (Murrieta, Calif., Murrieta Valley HS).
