Cal Poly Men's Golf Tied for Eighth Place After First Round of Big West Finals
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly shares eighth place with Cal State Northridge, both with four-person 301 scores, after the first of three rounds of play in the 2012 Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship on Sunday at the La Quinta Resort's Mountain Course.
Pacific leads with a six-under-par 282 total, followed by defending Big West champion UC Davis at 290 and Cal State Fullerton, also at 290.
Individual leader after 18 holes is Alex Edfort of Pacific with a round of 68 on the 6,771-yard, par-72 course. Three golfers -- Mark Anguiano of Cal State Fullerton, Byron Meth of Pacific and Chris Russo of Cal State Northridge -- share second place with 69s.
Cal Poly's top finisher Sunday was Bryce Greeley (pictured at right) with a 74 for a 20th-place tie.
In addition, Justin Haley and Grant Martens are tied for 27th place with 75s, Scott Patterson is tied for 36th place with a 77 and Trevor Guthrie is tied for 44th place with an 85.
Second round will be held Monday with the final round on Tuesday.
