Cal Poly Men's Golf Eighth After First Round of Folino Invitational
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. -- Cal Poly is eighth after the first of three rounds of play Sunday in the Folino Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton at the Industry Hills Golf Course at Pacific Palms Resort.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs carded a four-person 312 total on the 6,826-yard, par-72 Eisenhower Course. Pepperdine leads the way with a 292 total, followed by Long Beach State at 297 and Sacramento State and Loyola Marymount, tied for third with 298 totals. There are 10 teams in the field.
Cal Poly's top score was a 77 by Grant Martens (pictured at right) for a 24th-place tie. Justin Haley and Bryce Greeley followed with 78s for a tie for 31st place, followed by Trevor Guthrie with a 79, tied for 36th place, and Scott Patterson with an 82, tied for 47th place.
Competing as an individual, Alex Romo is tied for 31st place with a 78.
Tyler Torano of Loyola Marymount leads with a 70, with Kevin Roy of Long Beach State and Josh Anderson of Pepperdine one stroke back.
Second round is scheduled for Monday morning.
