Mustangs Add Two, Announce Roster Transactions for 2013-14 Season
Fourth-year Cal Poly men’s basketball head coach Joe Callero fortified an already deep incoming backcourt with the Monday announcement that 6-4 wing David Nwaba (Los Angeles, Calif.; Santa Monica Junior College) and 6-0 guard Andy Rowley (San Luis Obispo, Calif.; Mission College Preparatory) will be joining the Mustang program for the 2013-14 season.

Lowery to Join San Jose State in Assistant Coaching Capacity
Following a four-season stint as an assistant coach with the Mustang men’s basketball team and as the program’s recruiting coordinator, it was announced on Thursday afternoon by the Cal Poly Athletics Department that Omar Lowery has departed the central coast to accept an assistant coaching role with San Jose State.

Senior guard Dylan Royer finished with a team-leading eight points during his final game as a Mustang, but the Cal Poly men’s basketball program – playing its first postseason game in 19 Division I seasons – was eliminated from the CollegeInsider.com Tournament by Weber State 85-43 during round of 32 action on Wednesday evening inside the Dee Events Center.

Junior forward Chris Eversley scored a team-leading 12 points Thursday evening, but the Cal Poly men’s basketball program was eliminated from the Big West Conference Tournament at the semifinal stage for the second successive season after falling against No. 2 Pacific on a last-second shot inside the Honda Center on Friday evening, 55-53.

Eversley, Royer Earn All-Big West Conference Honors
After ranking sixth among Big West players in both points and rebounds per game and helping the Cal Poly men’s basketball program to its finest regular season showing in 19 years at the Division I level, Mustang junior forward Chris Eversley earned all-conference first team honors on Monday morning. Joining Eversley was senior guard Dylan Royer, who earned All-Big West honorable mention praise.

Senior guard Dylan Royer matched career highs for three-pointers (seven) and points (23) and the Cal Poly men’s basketball team shot a program-record 80.0 percent from three-point range on Thursday evening in producing an 81-61 triumph against Cal State Northridge inside the Matadome.

The Cal Poly men’s basketball program embarks on its final road trip of the regular season when visiting Cal State Northridge on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. and Hawai’i on Saturday, March 2 at 9:30 p.m. PT. After topping Loyola Marymount 63-60 in a Feb. 20 BracketBuster matchup, Cal Poly (13-12, 8-6) returns to Big West action sitting fifth in the conference standings – a half-game behind both Hawai’i (16-11, 9-6) and UC Irvine (16-13, 9-6).
