Mustangs Add Two Television Games to 2011-12 Schedule

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – One season after making a program-record five television appearances, the Cal Poly men's basketball team saw two matchups for the 2011-12 season picked up with the Monday announcement from the Big West Conference office that the program's Saturday, Jan. 21 contest at Cal State Northridge (5 p.m.) will be shown on PRIME and the Saturday, Feb. 25 Blue-Green Rivalry showdown at UC Santa Barbara (8 p.m.) will air on ESPNU.

Cal Poly, appearing on television for the sixth-successive season, has the opportunity to appear nationally during a further five dates. Television matchups for the Feb. 18 Sears ESPN BracketBuster series will be announced at a later date. Both March 9 semifinal matchups at the 2012 Big West Tournament will air on ESPNU with the March 10 championship game set for ESPN2.

As part of its contract with the Cal Poly Athletics Department, KSBY-TV will televise two additional contests for central coast fans. Those matchups will be announced at a later date.

Cal Poly returns nine letterwinners from last year's team that finished 15-15 overall and matched single-season school records for highest showing in the Big West standings (second), highest seeding for the conference tournament (second) and total Big West victories (10-6). Cal Poly's returning corps will be joined by four players who redshirted the 2010-11 campaign in guards Amaurys Fermin (above) and Kyle Odister and forwards Will Taylor and Chris Eversley. Also joining Cal Poly's 2011-12 squad is freshman guard Reese Morgan and freshman forward Joel Awich.

Cal Poly hosts Division II Notre Dame de Namur for a Nov. 6 exhibition tuneup before opening the 2011-12 campaign inside Mott Gym versus San Jose State on Saturday, Nov. 12.
