Cal Poly Selected to Finish Fourth in Big Sky by Coaches and Media

PARK CITY, Utah – The Cal Poly football team has been selected by Big Sky Conference coaches and the media to repeat its fourth-place finish of a year ago.

The polls were released by the Big Sky Conference at its Summer Football Kickoff on Tuesday in Park City, Utah.

Eastern Washington, the Big Sky champion a year ago at 8-0, is predicted by both the 13 head coaches and 36 members of the media to successfully defend its title. The Eagles have won or shared the last two Big Sky titles and were national semifinalists bost seasons.

The Eagles earned 12 of the 13 first-place votes from the coaches and 144 total points. The other first-place vote went to Montana, which earned 130 points and is second in the preseason poll. Head coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

In the media poll, Eastern Washington garnered 34 first-place votes and 464 points. Montana and Montana State each earned one first-place vote.

The top six teams in each poll are the same – Eastern Washington, Montana, Montana State, Cal Poly, Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. Cal Poly earned 108 points in the coaches poll and 329 points in the media poll.
