Cal Poly’s Cootes Breaks School Record at A3 Championships on Saturday November 22, 2015 On the third and final day of the A3 Performance Invitational hosted by UC San Diego on Saturday, sophomore Zach Cootes broke the school record in the Championship Final of the men's 200-yard butterfly with a mark of 1:48.01 – a full 27 tenths-of-a-second faster than Justin deDianous in 2015 – to provide Cal Poly with a crucial 25 points in the overall competition. Cootes narrowly missed the "B Standard" NCAA qualifications in the event by a mere two-tenths-of-a-second.
