First-year Cal Poly wrestling head coach Jon Sioredas has assembled a 2016-17 schedule that features 11 home matches, two of which will be held outdoors and two others to be contested at Righetti High School in Santa Maria.

Junior righthander Sierra Hyland tossed a complete-game, five-hitter as the Cal Poly softball program opened its final series of the year and a Friday afternoon doubleheader by bettering UC Riverside at Bob Janssen Field, 3-1. Cal Poly completed the Friday sweep with a 2-1 win in game No. 2 as sophomore righthander Lindsey Chalmers (above) struck out three Highlanders in a complete-game, five-hitter.

Hyland Makes Big West History, but Cal Poly Splits Doubleheader
Junior left fielder Courtney Tyler's run-scoring hit in the top of the sixth inning broke a 3-3 deadlock as the Cal Poly softball program opened a Saturday doubleheader versus Hawai'i with a 4-3 triumph at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Despite a complete-game, two-hitter from junior Sierra Hyland during which she moved in to 10th place on the Big West Conference career strikeout list, Cal Poly dropped game No. 2 after Hawai'i third baseman Nicole Lopez homered in the bottom of the eighth inning in a 1-0 decision.
