Despite 15 Top-3 three event finishes on Saturday afternoon, the Cal Poly men's swimming team was defeated by Southern California, 152-104, during the first dual meet of the season at the Anderson Aquatic Center. Senior Mickey Mackle recorded the fastest 400-yard IM time of 4:01.35, as Cal Poly received 13 individual Top-3 times against the Trojans.

Cal Poly volleyball had an opportunity on Friday evening to accomplish something that hasn't been done since Nov. 9, 2013 – beat Long Beach State during a Big West Conference match – and after a four-set Mustang victory, the 49ers 23-match unbeaten conference run was over.
