Mustang Men’s Basketball Adds 6-9 Forward Transfer Luke Meikle
The future of the Cal Poly men’s basketball team’s frontcourt play was strengthened on Tuesday afternoon with the announcement by sixth-year head coach Joe Callero and the Mustang Athletics Department that 6-9 forward and Gonzaga transfer Luke Meikle has joined the program for the 2014-15 season. Meikle will redshirt the upcoming year due to NCAA transfer rules, but enjoy three remaining years of eligibility beginning with the 2015-16 season.

Cal Poly to Host North Dakota State on Saturday for Non-Conference Dual
Two months into the 2013-14 wrestling season, Cal Poly finally hosts a dual meet in the Mott Athletics Center on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs (2-1) will entertain North Dakota State (2-3) for a non-conference dual starting at 1 p.m.

Senior forward Chris Eversley scored a game-leading and season-high 25 points and sophomore forward Joel Awich chipped in with a career-high 11, but the Cal Poly men’s basketball program failed to recover from an early double-digit deficit and dropped a 79-62 decision to Stanford inside Maples Pavilion on Sunday afternoon.

Schlemer Scores Career-High in 96-89 Loss at UCLA
Cal Poly senior Molly Schlemer scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, but it would not be enough as UCLA prevailed, 96-89, in Los Angeles on Saturday in Cal Poly’s final non-conference game. Cal Poly will open Big West Conference play on the road at Hawai’i on January 8.

Devon Lotito Places Third at 133 in Reno Tournament of Champions
Although six Cal Poly wrestlers won three or more matches Sunday, just one Mustang -- 133-pounder Devon Lotito -- was a placewinner. The sophomore from Bethlehem, Penn., placed third in his weight class at the Reno Tournament of Champions with a 5-1 record. The 2013 Pac-12 champion at 133 pounds is now 9-5 on the year.

Senior forward Chris Eversley scored a team-leading 16 points and senior guard Kyle Odister added 13, but the Cal Poly men's basketball program – after trailing Pittsburgh by five at halftime – was outdistanced in the second half and fell to the Panthers inside the Petersen Events Center on Saturday afternoon, 73-56.
