Tutor and Coordinator Information

Tutoring

The Cal Poly Athletics department offers free tutoring to student-athletes in a variety of subject areas.  The successful use of tutoring includes: class attendance, organization, and preparation. Tutoring services are designed to help with specific subject material, teach and reinforce healthy study habits, assist with test taking techniques, and reinforce writing skills. Student-athletes are accountable for the way they utilize academic support, including tutoring.  These services provided are a privilege, not a right.

Academic Coordinators

Academic Coordinators are an extension of the Advising Center, who meet with student-athletes to set goals, discuss academic and personal issues, monitor academic progress, and address any transitional needs. Coordinators are trained to provide guidance, resources, structure, and accountability that lead to student-athlete success. They help student-athletes assess academic and personal abilities in relation to setting goals. Academic Coordinators keep detailed records of each student-athlete’s progress throughout the quarter and submit weekly reports.
