Three Mustang Recruits Earn All-American Honors


SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Three Cal Poly wrestling recruits earned All-American status over the weekend at the National High School Coaches Association National Senior High School Championships in Virginia Beach. Jesse Delgado of Gilroy High School won the 119-pound national championship. He defeated  Utah's three-time state champion, Carson Kuhn, in the finals 14-6. Drew Meulman of St. Francis High School placed fourth at heavyweight. Meulman lost in the semis in overtime, 4-2 to the second-place winner, ...

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Three Cal Poly wrestling recruits earned All-American status over the weekend at the National High School Coaches Association National Senior High School Championships in Virginia Beach.

Jesse Delgado of Gilroy High School won the 119-pound national championship. He defeated  Utah's three-time state champion, Carson Kuhn, in the finals 14-6.

Drew Meulman of St. Francis High School placed fourth at heavyweight. Meulman lost in the semis in overtime, 4-2 to the second-place winner, Lance Moore. He lost his consolation final in overtime 3-1 to Cody Dauphin of Oklahoma.

Dominic Kastl of Gilroy High placed seventh at 160 pounds to earn All-American status.
