High School -- A four-year letter winner in football under head coach Damian Gonzalez at Poway High School ... helped Titans to 12-0 mark and school’s first CIF-San Diego Section championship ... Titans also reached section finals in 2006 when Nelson was a junior, posting an 8-5 record ... earned All-Palomar League, All-North San Diego County and All-CIF-San Diego Section honors ... was team captain of the defense as a senior ... played in Alex G. Spanos All-Star Game in summer of 2008 ... also lettered in wrestling, rugby and track and field ... visited Idaho State, UC Davis and St. Ambrose before choosing Cal Poly.

Personal -- Son of Bob and Cathy Nelson ... one sister, Carly has been working in construction since age 14 ... aspires to work in law enforcement ... hobbies include scuba diving and spearfishing ... born July 30, 1990, in Poway, CA ... majors in agricultural business.
