Colton Schilling, 141 Pounds, Senior, 5-9, Brownsville, OR | Sweet Home High School
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Colton Schilling has yet to win a match by decision this season.
Instead, the senior wrestler from Brownsville, Oregon, has earned a dozen victories with nine falls, a technical fall and two major decisions.
After pinning his Arizona State opponent in a Pac-12 Conference dual meet Sunday afternoon, Schilling has been selected as the Coca-Cola Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
Schilling raised his record for the season to 12-5 by pinning the Sun Devils' Nikko Villareal in 3 minutes, 37 seconds. Schilling scored a takedown in the first period and a two-point near fall in the second period before recording his fall.
Schilling, who placed eighth in the Midlands back in December and is ranked No. 29 at 141 pounds by the NCAA Division I Coaches Panel, has won five matches in a row, and seven of his last eight victories are by fall.
The Sweet Home High School graduate, 6-0 in duals this year, will take a 71-44 career record into the Pac-12 Championships in two weeks inside Oregon State’s Gill Coliseum.
Schilling placed third in the Pac-12 finals a year ago and qualified for the NCAA Division I National Championships. This year’s finals will be held March 15-17 inside Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
