Mitch Woods, 6-1, Senior, 184 Pounds, Camino, Calif./Union Mine High School
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Senior Mitch Woods, who won a pair of decisions in Cal Poly’s dual meets against Wyoming and Air Force last week, has been selected as the Coca-Cola Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
Woods, a graduate of Union Mine High School in El Dorado, Calif., earned 4-1 and 5-4 decisions to improve his overall record to 10-5. He is 4-0 in dual meets this season and has won four straight matches and nine of his last 11.
Woods has two falls to his credit this season and placed sixth in the Reno Tournament of Champions a month ago.
Woods was one of seven seniors and one junior honored in a pregame ceremony on Senior Day prior to Cal Poly’s match against Air Force in the Performing Arts Center’s Harman Hall.
He has 30 career wins with six falls at Cal Poly.
Woods compiled a 188-49 record, including 96 pins, in four seasons at Union Mine High, twice qualifying for the California State High School Championships.
Cal Poly will host North Dakota State and CSU Bakersfield for dual meets Saturday at Righetti High School in Santa Maria.
